YoWDO Attends the Accessibility Audit Training with Sighsavers Tanzania
Facilitated by Sightsavers Tanzania within the framework of the implementation of the ongoing Economic Empowerment and the Ready for Inclusive and Sustainable Employment and Entrepreneurship (RISE/E) Project, the accessibility audit training attended by YoWDO team as the main projects implementing partners, along with other participants including representatives from social welfare officers, land surveyors, and engineers.
The scheduled three-day training 9 to 11 October 2024, was geared to equip participants with practical skills on how to conduct an accessibility audit to partners to enable them to practice an inclusive workplace.

We are providing this training so that the team is able to conduct the accessibility audit training to our partners, the third day of the training we shall visit our main partner YoWDO and learn practically how disability audit is conducted. Finaly the team will be able to conduct the accessibility training and audit to partners who joins our projects and make them aware of the barriers to be removed to allow all to access their services and offices, Sabina- One of the Facilitator from Sightsavers.
The training being facilitated by Amalie from Sightsavers UK as the lead Facilitator, covered a range of topics including an introduction to accessibility, an in-depth analysis of accessibility standards, using the accessibility audit checklist, compiling an audit report and preparation of an action plan to improve the accessibility of facilities.

This training is very clausal for YoWDO Team, it will at first assist YoWDO in identifying areas for improvement to make her office accessible and meet the accessibility standard as well as add knowledge to the Facilitators team from YoWDO on how to do an accessibility audit to the mainstream organization. On the third day of the training session, the training participants conducted the accessibility audit at the YoWDO office. This audit was geared to determine the barriers that prevent the accessibility of YoWDO working offices and facilities and provide recommendations for further improvement.
