Youth With Disabilities Organization (YoWDO) is a non-governmental organization with registration number 00NGO/R/1671 working to promote the welfare of youth with disabilities in Tanzania. The organization is founded by young males and females with disabilities.

YoWDO embraces all types of disabilities with an eagerness to promote inclusion of all youth with disabilities in crosscutting issues.

The organization believes that issues affecting youth with disabilities will be addressed not only by youth with disabilities but the society in general. YoWDO works closely with youth without disabilities who are champions in addressing issues affecting youth with disabilities.

Youth with disabilities are among the most marginalized and poorest of the world’s youth population. They are more likely to face severe social, economic, and civic disparities as compared with their peers.

For many youths with disabilities, exclusion, isolation, and abuse, as well as lack of educational and economic opportunities, are daily experiences (UNICEF, 2013). Youth with disabilities also face significant barriers to finding and maintaining decent employment.

As countries continue their efforts toward poverty reduction and equitable development is crucial that youth with disabilities are offered opportunities to participate in and contribute to societies at all levels.
